The White Tree rose before them, illuminated from below by the gentle glow of aquatic plants. Despite the enormous opening in the cavern ceiling, the nauseating pressure of the Creeping Darkness was curiously absent, replaced by a serene sense of shelter and safety.
Azra closed her eyes, speaking a quiet prayer of gratitude, the others staring at the massive tree in silent wonder. Isaak cursed under his breath in disbelief while Mo practically bounced with excitement. Only the ever-pragmatic Owitt seemed unfazed by its grandeur.
“When you tourists are done gawking like idiots, come meet me at the apothecary,” he stated, shouldering his worn scattergun and stepping forward. “We’ve got work to do.”
